kofi Asante discussion question (73,85)

On page 260 in Chapter 73, Stubb suggests that Fedellah is the devil. What type of evil does Fedellah symbolize to Stubb that would make him believe this?

In Chapter 85, Mevlille describes whales in a majestival manner.  He compares them to humans and references them with heaven.  Does Melville believe that whales have souls?
